Matching Family Christmas Pajamas Trends for 2026, Plus the Best Styles for Pets

The short answer

We counted our own listings, and two things changed this season. Gingerbread appears on about three in ten of the sets we added in 2026, roughly double its share among 2025 sets still on sale, and Christmas tree prints rose by a similar margin. Glow-in-the-dark and fleece went the other way. If you are shopping for family christmas pajamas 2026, gingerbread or a tree print gives you the widest choice, while the newer satin, bamboo and cotton sets are the ones most likely to miss a size or the dog. This is a seller's count of its own range, not a measure of the whole market.

Both sets above had S(Pets) and L(Pets) in stock when we read them, along with kids' sizes up to 12-13Y and baby sizes from 3-6M to 12-18M. For picks by household instead of by trend, see best family Christmas pajamas.

What Changed Between Our 2025 and 2026 Ranges

The table compares the share of each group that carries a word in its product title. A set can count under more than one row, so the columns don't add up to 100%.

Title mentions Added in 2026 Added in 2025, still on sale Our read
Gingerbread About 30% About 14% Clear rise
Christmas tree About 28% About 14% Clear rise
Santa About 14% About 14% Flat
Reindeer About 9% About 11% Too close to call
Snowman About 8% About 11% Too close to call
Plaid About 5% About 7% Too close to call
Glow in the dark About 2% About 12% Clear drop
Fleece About 5% About 12% Drop
Bamboo About 8% None New in titles
Satin About 6% None New in titles
Cotton About 6% None New in titles

Read it with two limits in mind. These percentages show what we chose to list, not what families bought, so a rising print is our bet and not proof of demand. The 2025 column also holds only sets that survived to this season. A print that sold out last year has vanished from it, and a print that sold slowly may still be sitting there. That is why we call the middle rows too close to call: in groups this small, one or two styles can move a row by a few points.

Gingerbread and Christmas Tree: The Two Prints That Grew

The practical gain from this rise is choice inside one print, which matters more than the print being fashionable. If you like gingerbread christmas pajamas, you can now pick your print first and still choose between polyester knit, satin, cotton and fleece. One gingerbread set running short of a size also leaves you other gingerbread sets to try.

The same is true for christmas tree pajamas, though size coverage differs between the two. Across the family sets we could buy in early November, about four in five gingerbread sets had a pet size, against about two in three tree sets. About three in four gingerbread sets reached the kids' 12-13Y, and about six in ten tree sets did. Tree-print households with an older child or a dog should check those two sizes before anything else.

A tree print also has one small advantage we can only call editorial: it reads as winter rather than as a cookie, so it may be easier to sell to the adult who finds gingerbread too cute. Some sets settle the argument by printing both, including the cotton set in the fabric section below.

Santa, Reindeer, Snowman and Plaid: Steady, Not Trending

Santa holds at about one in seven sets in both columns, and reindeer stays near one in ten. Snowman and plaid each dip slightly, but the difference comes down to a style or two. We would not read a trend into any of them, in either direction.

That is useful in its own way. You don't need to avoid these prints because something else rose, and a classic Santa set isn't going out of style because gingerbread had a big year. Choose them on taste, and use the size checks below as the tiebreaker.

Glow-in-the-Dark and Fleece: Fewer New Styles

Glow-in-the-dark fell the hardest, from about one in eight of the 2025 sets to about one in fifty of this year's. Fleece dropped from about one in eight to about one in twenty. So most of the glow and fleece sets you will find this season are 2025 listings, not new designs.

We can't tell you why from a count, and we won't guess at what families prefer. What we can say is that coverage held up: seven of the eight glow sets and seven of the eight fleece sets had a pet size when we read them, and every glow set reached the kids' 12-13Y. A 2025 set can still be a good choice, but it has had an extra season to sell through, so in our judgment you should check your hardest size first. Our Christmas pajama ideas include glow options.

If you want fleece for a cold room, this gingerbread set is one option. Its listing says the kids' and baby pieces are flame-resistant, and its only pet size in stock was L(Pets).

Satin, Bamboo and Cotton: The New Fabric Lines and Their Size Gaps

These three words appear only in titles of sets we added in 2026, and this is the most useful thing the count turned up, because the new fabrics come with real trade-offs. Across our family sets, these lines cover fewer people than the polyester knit that most of the range uses.

Fabric in the title Largest kids' size we found Pet sizes Women's top end
Satin 12-13Y on one set, 8-9Y on others, and one set with no kids' sizes None 2XL or 3XL
Bamboo Size 10 at most About two in five sets, S(Pets) only L to 3XL, depending on the set
Cotton Size 10 at most About one in four sets 2XL
Whole family range, for comparison 12-13Y on about seven in ten sets About four in five sets 3XL on about half

So choose the fabric after you have listed everyone's size. A family with a 12-year-old should not start with cotton, and a family with a dog should not start with satin. The cotton and bamboo sets below also use a different kids' size scale, 2T to 10, so don't assume a 10 equals the 10-11Y on a polyester set. Check the size chart before you order.

  • Satin. The gingerbread set below is 100% polyester satin with a contrast collar, so expect a smooth, dressy look and not silk.
  • Bamboo. The tree-print set is mostly rayon made from bamboo with spandex. Care instructions say machine wash cold, low-temperature iron, no bleach and no dry cleaning.
  • Cotton. The gingerbread and tree-print set is 95% cotton and 5% spandex. Its listing describes the fabric as breathable.

One more check applies to the kids' pieces: confirm which US children's sleepwear route they follow. CPSC says untreated fibers such as 100% cotton and 100% rayon typically fail the children's sleepwear flammability test, and it names tight-fitting garments as a route with different requirements. Read the neck label when the set arrives. If it says WEAR SNUG-FITTING, NOT FLAME RESISTANT, order true to size and don't size up. The rules are in what size to order and when, and the Christmas pajamas fabric guide compares how each fabric wears.

None of those three had a pet size in stock when we read them, even though some listing photos show a dog in a bandana. Trust the size selector, not the photo.

Best Styles for Pets: Start With the Bandana

In our view, the best pet style is the one with your dog's size in stock, and what you are buying is a bandana. PatPat does not sell these as full dog pajamas. Most listings call the pet piece a bandana or pet towel, and the rest say pet wrap, pet product or nothing specific. Our Festive Dog set shows the distinction well: the dogs are printed on the people's pajamas, and the dog itself gets the small piece.

Use these checks, in this order, when the dog is part of the plan:

Father and daughter in green gingerbread fleece pajamas kneel beside a curly dog wearing only a small matching bandana
  1. Find the pet size first. Sets offer S(Pets), L(Pets), both or neither, and only about half of the family range had both in stock.
  2. Go with the print families. Reindeer, Santa and gingerbread sets each had a pet size on more than four in five, and fleece and glow on seven of eight. Satin had none.
  3. Measure the dog. Two sizes have to fit every breed, so check the numbers in the dog pajama size guide before you trust the word small.
  4. Stay in the room. The American Kennel Club advises letting a dog wear a bandana only under supervision, since it can catch on objects. Take it off if the dog keeps trying to remove it. Children's sleepwear rules don't cover pet pieces, so don't read them as a safety standard for the dog.

Shop the look

Parents and kids wear the Festive Dog print and the dog wears the bandana in S(Pets) or L(Pets): one listing, choose each member and size.

Turn the Numbers Into an Order

Start from your family's hardest requirement, then let the trend data narrow the prints.

If your family has Start with Check before you buy
A dog in the photo Gingerbread, Santa or reindeer polyester knit sets S(Pets) or L(Pets) in stock on that exact listing
A child in 12-13Y Polyester knit or glow sets The bamboo and cotton sets stop at size 10
An adult in 3XL Any print, but filter by size first All cotton sets stopped at women's 2XL. 4XL exists only on a few selected prints
A baby under 3 months Baby sizes on the listing, not the print 0-3M is on very few family sets
Someone who wants a dressier look Satin No pet sizes, and kids' sizes vary widely by set
A wish for something new this year Gingerbread or tree in bamboo or cotton Everyone's size first, because these lines are narrower

The size finder will test your full list against current stock, which is faster than opening each listing.

Frequently asked questions

What are the biggest matching family Christmas pajama trends for 2026? In our own range, gingerbread and Christmas tree prints rose the most, and satin, bamboo and cotton appeared in new titles. That reflects what PatPat listed, not the whole industry.

Are glow-in-the-dark Christmas pajamas going away? We added far fewer this year, but many 2025 glow sets remain on sale. A count of listings can't tell you why, so treat it as a sign of fewer new designs and nothing more.

What are the best Christmas pajama styles for pets? Choose a set with your dog's size in stock, such as a gingerbread, Santa or reindeer polyester knit set. The pet piece is a bandana or similar small item, not a full pajama set.

Do PatPat family sets include real pajamas for dogs? No listing we read describes a full pajama set for a dog. Most say bandana or pet towel, so check the wording and supervise your dog while it wears one.

Do satin family pajamas come in pet sizes? None of the satin family sets we read had one. If the dog matters, choose a print from a polyester knit, fleece or glow set.

Do bamboo and cotton family pajamas fit older kids? Only up to size 10 on the sets we read, and some stop sooner. A child who has outgrown that size needs a set that reaches 12-13Y, which is usually a polyester knit.

Where This Leaves Your Order

A trend is a good reason to look at a print and a poor reason to buy one. Write down every size, including the dog's, and pick from the prints that cover the list. That check only gets harder closer to Christmas.

Your list of sizes is the real filter, because each one sells out on its own. Shop matching family Christmas pajamas.

About this article

Written and fact-checked by the PatPat Editorial Team. How we research, source and review what we publish is set out on our editorial standards page.

Method. For the latest update of this article, we counted the 120 sets on sale in PatPat's 2026 Christmas matching pajamas collection, 64 added in 2026 and 56 added in 2025 and still on sale, grouping them by the year each listing was added and matching keywords in the titles. Sets that sold out or were removed aren't included, and a set can count in several rows. Size, pet and fabric coverage comes from the listings and inventory of the family sets available to buy in early November 2026. This is PatPat's own range, not an industry survey. PatPat is the seller, the conclusions are editorial judgment, and we did not wear-test any garment.
