The short answer
Choose the fabric by how warm you sleep, buy the size by your chest measurement, and pick the print last, once you know it comes in your size and your child's. If you are shopping Christmas pajamas this season, those three checks settle the decision faster than comparing designs.
| What matters most to you | Start here | Check before you buy |
|---|---|---|
| You sleep hot or the bedroom stays warm | Bamboo viscose or cotton two-piece | The composition line, not the fabric name in the title |
| The house runs cold overnight | Fleece two-piece or coral fleece one-piece | Whether the one-piece is worth the extra steps at night |
| You want to look dressed on Christmas morning | Satin set with a notch lapel | Your child's size, since this print stops at 8-9Y |
| Your chest measures above about 46 inches | A print that lists 3XL | 4XL exists only on a few selected prints, so confirm it on the page |
| You are matching a child aged 10 or older | A print whose kids' sizes reach 12-13Y | The size menu on the day you order |
One disclosure: PatPat sells every set named here, and we have not wear-tested them. The recommendations are editorial judgments you can check against each product page: fiber, cut and the sizes listed.
Best Christmas Pajamas for Women Who Want Comfort and Matching
Comfort and matching pull against each other, and it helps to see why. A family listing has one main fabric for one print. If you run warm and your kids run cold, the set that suits the photo may not suit your night's sleep.
Three ways to handle that, from most to least identical:
- Same listing. Everyone wears the same print. Choose the fabric for whoever would be least comfortable in it. If that person is you, say so before the family settles on fleece.
- Same motif, different listings. Gingerbread appears on this guide's picks in bamboo viscose, cotton, polyester knit and two kinds of fleece. You could wear the red bamboo set while the kids wear the green fleece one. The photo reads as related, not identical, and nobody overheats.
- Your piece only. Each size is added to the cart separately, so you can skip the full set and wear a print in the fabric you like, while the kids wear whatever already fits them. The tradeoff is a looser match in the photo.
If you are still deciding which family set to build around, our guide to family Christmas pajamas by family structure starts from the household. This one starts from what the woman wearing the set needs.
Buy by Your Chest Measurement, Not Your Usual Letter
PatPat women's letters are drafted for a chest about 1.5 to 2 inches smaller than a typical US chart, which works out to roughly one letter. If you wear an M elsewhere, you are usually an L here. The full comparison is in does PatPat run small.
| PatPat letter | Chest | US size on the chart | Height drafted for |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | 33.5 to 35 in | 4-6 | 63 to 65 in |
| M | 35.5 to 37.5 in | 8-10 | 65 to 67 in |
| L | 38 to 40 in | 12-14 | 67 to 69 in |
| XL | 40.5 to 43 in | 16-18 | 69 to 71 in |
| 2XL | 43.5 to 46 in | 20 | 71 to 73 in |
The last column is easy to overlook. Sizing up for your chest also buys length, because each letter on this chart assumes a taller woman. Someone who is 63 inches tall with a 39-inch chest lands on an L drafted for 67 to 69 inches, so expect to cuff the pants. That is a fair trade on a two-piece and a bigger question on a one-piece, covered below.

Three more things to know before you order:
- The range is S to 2XL on almost every print. XS is rare, so if your chest is under 33.5 inches, expect a looser S rather than a choice of cuts.
- Listings describe fit differently. The green fleece page says true to size, the green bamboo page says loose, and the satin page says relaxed. Treat those as notes on the cut and let your chest measurement make the decision. If you are between two sizes, take the larger: adult sleepwear sits outside the children's sleepwear standards, so room is purely a matter of comfort.
- Getting it right the first time matters more than usual. PatPat's refund policy offers no direct exchange. The fastest route is to return the item and buy the new size separately, and that size may have sold out by then. Sale items cannot be returned at all. Try anything on before washing it, with the tags still attached.
Measurements for every letter are on the PatPat size chart, in inches and centimeters.
Best Soft, Flannel or Bamboo Christmas Pajamas for Women
There is no flannel in the current family Christmas range. If flannel is what you came for, the nearest substitute is fleece, which covers the same cold-room need with a different fabric: a soft polyester pile instead of a brushed cotton weave.
The useful question is how warm your bedroom stays overnight. The Sleep Foundation puts the best room temperature for sleep at about 65°F to 68°F and notes that warmer rooms can cause discomfort and restlessness. If your heating keeps the bedroom well above that overnight, fleece may look right in the photo and feel wrong by midnight.
| Your bedroom at night | Fabric to look at | What the listing says |
|---|---|---|
| Warm, or you wake up hot | Bamboo viscose | Red gingerbread set: 93% bamboo viscose, 7% spandex, non-sheer. Green tree set: 93% regenerated cellulose fiber from bamboo pulp, 7% spandex, loose fit |
| Average, or you prefer a familiar feel | Cotton knit | Cream tree and gingerbread set: 95% cotton, 5% spandex, regular fit |
| Average, and you want the widest size run | Polyester stretch knit | Khaki gingerbread set: 95% polyester, 5% spandex, regular fit, socks included |
| Cool, or the heat goes off overnight | Fleece | Green gingerbread set: 95% polyester, 5% spandex, pockets on the pants, socks included |
| Cold, and you want full coverage | Coral fleece | Gingerbread one-piece: described as thick and warm, 100% polyester body |
| Any room, when the look comes first | Satin | Village print set: 100% polyester, satin-like feel, notch lapel, relaxed fit |
The matching is our reading of fiber and description, not a lab result. Two label points are worth a second look:
Bamboo means rayon. The Federal Trade Commission says fabric made this way should be called rayon or "rayon made from bamboo," and a composition line reading bamboo viscose is telling you the same thing. When we read PatPat's wider range of bamboo pajamas in early November, most of the styles in stock had no women's size, so for a women's size in a Christmas print, start with the family listings below.
CloudSoft is a name, not a fabric. It is PatPat's own fabric-line label rather than a third-party certification, and it appears on polyester, cotton and bamboo viscose styles alike. The green bamboo and cream cotton sets both carry it. Read the composition line to learn what you are buying.

One-Piece or Two-Piece: The Practical Differences
Choose a two-piece unless staying warm matters more to you than convenience. The one-piece can look great in a group photo, but you live with its drawbacks all night.
| One-piece (zip front) | Two-piece | |
|---|---|---|
| Bathroom trips | Plan on the front zipper; see the back flap note below | Nothing to take off above the waist |
| Too warm at 2 a.m. | Unzip partway, or change altogether | Swap the top for a tee and keep the pants |
| Fit if your chest and height disagree | Harder, since the torso length is fixed | Easier, since you can cuff the pants and push up the sleeves |
| Getting dressed | Step in and zip, with nothing to go over your hair | Pullover top on the round-neck styles; the satin top opens down the front |
| Warmth | No gap at the waist | Top can ride up when you sleep |
On the coral fleece one-piece in this guide, check the listing photos for a back flap; we could not confirm from the listing whether it opens, so plan on the front zipper for bathroom trips. The torso question matters as well. Length from shoulder to crotch decides how any one-piece fits, and a size chosen for chest alone may hang low on a shorter woman or pull on a taller one. If you are far from the height listed for your letter, the two-piece is the safer order.

The coral fleece one-piece closes with a front zipper and has a regular fit. Its photos also show a hood, and buttons at the corners of the back panel. The satin set takes the opposite approach: a long-sleeve cardigan-style top, full-length pants and red piping, and it is the two-piece to choose if you expect to answer the door or host breakfast in it. Satin does show creases, so hang it the night before.

How Women Choose the Best Christmas Pajamas When Matching with Family
Unless you need 3XL, your own size is unlikely to break the match, because S to 2XL is on almost every print. The child's size is more likely to. Here is what each pick listed in stock when we read the pages in early November. Sizes sell out one at a time, and 3XL was already running low on every set here that lists it, so treat this as a starting point and confirm on the product page.
| Set | Women's | Largest kids' size | Baby sizes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Khaki gingerbread, polyester knit | S to 3XL | 12-13Y | 0-3M to 12-18M |
| Green gingerbread, fleece | S to 3XL | 12-13Y | 3-6M to 12-18M |
| Green Christmas tree, bamboo viscose | S to 3XL | 10 | 3-6M to 12-18M |
| Red gingerbread and tree, bamboo viscose | S to 2XL | 10 | 3-6M to 12-18M |
| Cream tree and gingerbread, cotton | S to 2XL | 10 | 3-6M to 12-18M |
| Village print, satin | S to 3XL | 8-9Y | 3-6M to 12-18M |
| Gingerbread one-piece, coral fleece | S to 2XL | 8-9Y | 3-6M to 12-18M |
Read that table from the child upward. A mother in a 3XL with a 10-year-old has three of the seven: the khaki, the green fleece and the green bamboo. A mother with a baby under three months has one, the khaki, the only pick listing 0-3M. A mother in a medium with a preschooler can choose any of them on size alone, which is when fabric should decide.

Two sizing notes when you share a page with your kids. Your freedom to size up does not transfer to them. Children's pieces follow different rules, and our guide to what size to order and when explains how to order them. Some prints also label kids' sizes as 2T to 10 and others as 2Y to 13Y, so check the chart for the system on that page.
On timing, it is already November. If a holiday card photo is still on the list, order this week. If the pajamas are only for Christmas morning, the third week of November is the latest we would leave it, and later than that, expect more gaps at the ends of the size runs. Put your piece and the kids' pieces in the same order.
Best Plus Size or Affordable Options for Women
For plus sizes, the practical limit is 3XL. Only about half of the prints reach it, and 4XL appears on just a few selected prints. None of the seven in this guide lists 4XL, so if you need it, start in the plus size Christmas pajamas collection and check the size menu of each print you like before you get attached to one.
PatPat runs a standard adult chart and a separate plus chart, which is a fuller cut, so read the size chart on the listing if you are in this range. The rows are close at 2XL. The plus chart gives 46.1 to 48.4 inches at the chest for 3XL and 48.4 to 50.8 inches for 4XL, or US 22W. If you are near the top of a row, take the next size up. Our plus-size mommy and me guide covers the two charts in detail, including what to do if your measurements fall above the 4XL row.

For a tighter budget, three habits do most of the work:
- Buy your piece only if that is what you need. Because each size is a separate item, you can compare one piece's price across prints, then multiply by the people you are dressing. Our guide to affordable matching family pajamas walks through the arithmetic and where a shared color can replace a full set.
- Check whether socks are included. The khaki knit and green fleece listings each include a pair of buffalo plaid socks with the set, which is one less thing to buy for the photo.
- Weigh a sale price against the return rule. A sale piece cannot be returned, so a lower price is only a saving if your measurement is settled. Between sizes on a sale item, take the larger one.
Frequently asked questions
What are the best Christmas pajamas for women? The best set is the one that suits your bedroom temperature and comes in your chest size and your child's size. Bamboo viscose or cotton suits warm rooms, and fleece suits cold ones.
Do PatPat women's pajamas run small? The letters are drafted about 1.5 to 2 inches smaller at the chest than a typical US chart, or roughly one letter. Buy by chest measurement rather than by your usual letter.
Do you sell flannel Christmas pajamas for women? Not in the current family Christmas range. Fleece is the closest option for a cold house, in either a two-piece or a coral fleece one-piece.
Are bamboo Christmas pajamas made entirely of bamboo? No. They are bamboo viscose, a rayon made from bamboo, and the family sets in this guide list about 93% of it with 7% spandex in the main fabric.
Do women's Christmas pajamas go up to 4XL? Only on a few selected prints. The main range runs S to 2XL, and about half of the prints reach 3XL.
Can I buy just the women's piece from a family set? Yes. Each size is added to the cart separately, so you can buy one piece or the whole family's.
Is a one-piece or a two-piece better for sleeping? We would choose a two-piece, because bathroom trips and overheating are simpler to deal with. A one-piece makes sense in a cold house when warmth comes first.
About this article
Written and fact-checked by the PatPat Editorial Team. How we research, source and review what we publish is set out on our editorial standards page.
Method. Product details, fabric composition and in-stock sizes were read from PatPat product pages and inventory in early November 2026, and sizes change as stock sells. Size measurements come from PatPat's published charts. PatPat is the seller of every set named here, and we did not wear-test them, so fabric recommendations are editorial judgments based on fiber and listing descriptions.
