Best Christmas Pajamas for Couples 2026: Matching Sets That Still Work with Kids

The short answer

PatPat has no separate couples line for Christmas. Couples buy one men’s piece and one women’s piece from a family set and stop there, so the real choice is which family set has both of your sizes in a fabric you will both sleep in. Check the sizes first, because men’s S is missing from most sets.

Your situation Start here
Two adults, dressy look, heated bedroom Satin. Smooth and light, but it shows creases and shine
Two adults, want to keep wearing it into January A collared Fair Isle set, which reads as winter more than as Christmas
A cold house, or lounging more than sleeping Fleece
He wears a men’s S Filter for that size before anything else. It is on about one set in five
One of you needs 3XL or 4XL Filter for that person first. 3XL is on about half the sets and 4XL on only a few selected prints
You have a baby or young child Pick from sets that stock the child’s size, and skip satin for a new walker

Best Christmas Pajamas for Couples Who Want Real Matching Sets

A real matching set here means the same print on both of you, top and pants, from the same listing. What people search for as couples christmas pajamas are, in our store, the adult pieces of those family sets.

The listing title says “family,” but it does not commit you to buying for a family. Each listing asks you to add every size separately, choosing color, family member and size each time, and each size is one person’s set. A couple adds one men’s size and one women’s size and checks out with two items. Nothing obliges you to add a child’s piece.

Three things follow from buying this way:

  • The photos will show a whole family. Scroll to the shots of a single adult to see how each piece sits on its own.
  • Same-sex couples buy the same half twice. Two men’s pieces or two women’s pieces in one print need no workaround, though each piece is still added separately.
  • Your pieces are not reserved as a pair. Stock is held size by size, so a print can still be on the page after one of your sizes has gone. Add both to one order.

If you want something you can wear beyond December, the same method works for matching pajamas for couples in our wider range, which also includes prints that are not tied to the holiday.

The same letter is not the same size for the two of you

Do not assume you are both an M, or that being “a size apart” means one letter apart. On the family matching size chart, the men’s row starts 2 to 3 inches higher than the women’s row at every letter.

Letter Women’s chest (in) Men’s chest (in)
S 33.5–35 36–38.5
M 35.5–37.5 38.5–41
L 38–40 41–43
XL 40.5–43 43–45.5
XXL (2XL on listings) 43.5–46 45.5–48
XXXL (3XL on listings) 46–48.5 48–50.5

Measure both chests and read them against this table, not against the letters in your closet. Women’s letters in our family range run about one letter smaller than a typical US chart, as compared in does PatPat run small, so a woman who wears an M elsewhere is often an L here. We also run a separate plus-size women’s chart, so read the chart on the listing if she is near the top of the range.

The gap that catches couples is men’s S. Women’s S is on nearly every family set, but men’s S is on about one in five, and none of the seven sets shown in this guide has it in stock as we write. A man with a chest under 38.5 inches has three options:

  • Filter for men’s S first and choose from what comes back. The list is short, so this is where to start if the fit matters most to him.
  • Take the men’s M and accept the room. Most of these sets are described as a relaxed or regular fit, and the US snug-fit rule covers children’s sizes through 14, not adult pieces.
  • Try the women’s piece in the same print. On the chart, a women’s L has the same waist as a men’s S (30.5–33 in), with about 2 inches more at the chest and 4 at the hip, and a height range of 67–69 in against 66–67.5 in. The cut is drafted differently, and we have not tried this on anyone, so treat it as a chart comparison and keep the tags on until you have tried it.

At the top of the range, the larger person decides. Both men’s and women’s sizes run through 2XL on almost every set. 3XL is on about half of them, and 4XL is limited to a few selected prints, none of them among the seven here. If one of you needs either, start from that person’s size and let the other follow.

Best Matching Christmas Pajamas for Couples: Satin, Collared or Fleece

Choose for whichever of you sleeps hotter. A cold sleeper can add a layer, and a hot sleeper has nothing left to take off. Each listing comes in one fabric, so you cannot order fleece for one of you and satin for the other in the same set.

Satin, if you have no small children and want it to look dressed up. The listings below are 100% polyester with a smooth finish. Satin takes creases and has a hard shine under direct light, so hang it the night before and keep lamps out of the frame. Without kids, you can also ignore gaps that would rule a set out for a family: the Letters to Santa set has no baby sizes in stock and stops at kids 8-9Y, which makes no difference to two adults.

Collared, if you want to look like you own proper pajamas. Both sets below are 95% polyester and 5% spandex in a stretch knit, so do not expect cotton. The Fair Isle listing describes its button-down collar as an adult detail, so a child’s piece in that print may have a different neckline; check the child’s photo if the collar is what sold you. That listing also describes the fabric as wrinkle-resistant, the opposite trade-off to satin. A deer-and-snowflake print also has more life in it after December 25 than a Santa does, which matters more for adults, whose size will still be the same next winter. On the Santa set, women’s sizes currently start at M, so it will not suit a woman who needs an S.

Fleece, if the bedroom is actually cold. The reindeer set below is 100% polyester fleece with its neck trim, cuffs and hems in a polyester-spandex blend. It has a round neck, so it looks more like loungewear than a collared set does. In a well-heated house with two people in one bed, it may be more than you need overnight, and it may work better as the set you put on for Christmas morning.

Cotton or bamboo viscose, if you want a lighter knit. The tree-print set below is 91% cotton and 9% spandex. The other tree print is 93% rayon made from bamboo and 7% spandex, using the name FTC labeling guidance calls for. That listing also carries our CloudSoft label. CloudSoft is a PatPat fabric line name, not a third-party certification, and it appears on polyester, cotton and bamboo styles alike, so read the composition rather than the label. Both of these stop at men’s and women’s 2XL.

How Couples Choose the Best Christmas Pajamas When Kids Are Involved

Once a child joins, the shortlist comes from the child’s size and the adults choose inside it. The seven sets above look interchangeable until you lay out who each one actually dresses. This is what was in stock when we read the listings in early November, and it will change. Some baby sizes and the 10-11Y and 12-13Y sizes on these sets were already close to gone.

Set Women Men Kids Baby Pet
Gingerbread satin, navy S–3XL M–3XL 2Y–12-13Y 3-6M–12-18M None
Letters to Santa satin, cream S–3XL M–3XL 2Y–8-9Y None None
Fair Isle collared, red S–3XL M–3XL 2Y–12-13Y 3-6M–12-18M None
Santa collared, pale green M–2XL M–2XL 2Y–8-9Y 6-9M, 9-12M S, L
Reindeer fleece, cream S–3XL M–3XL 2Y–12-13Y None S, L
Christmas tree cotton, blue S–2XL M–2XL 2T–10 3-6M–12-18M None
Christmas tree bamboo viscose S–2XL M–2XL 2T–6, 10 3-6M–12-18M None

Reading across that table for three common households:

Parents and a young daughter in matching Christmas tree print cotton pajamas reading a picture book together on a sofa
  • A couple and a baby. Five of the seven sets stock baby sizes, and four of those run from 3-6M to 12-18M. Satin is slick, so we would choose a knit once the baby is crawling or pulling up to stand. That is our judgment, not a safety rule.
  • A couple expecting before Christmas. Size 0-3M is on only about one set in twenty, and none of these seven stocks it. If a newborn piece matters, start your search from that size, or match the two of you now and add the baby in a coordinating color.
  • A couple and a child of nine or older. Three sets here go past 8-9Y into the 10-11Y and 12-13Y range, and two more stop at size 10. An older child may also decline, so ask before you buy.

If a dog is part of the household, note that pet pieces on most family listings are bandanas rather than full pajamas, and they should not be left on an unsupervised pet.

Children’s sizing does not work the way yours does. You can size up for comfort, while a child in a snug-fit style should not, and the reasoning is in what size to order and when. If no print covers all of you, the easy fallback is to put the child in the print and the two of you in plain pajamas in a color taken from it. That approach and the other levels of matching are set out in buying matching family pajamas.

Best Couples Christmas Pajamas vs Full Family Sets

They are the same garments, so the difference is in how many sizes have to line up. Two adults have far more prints to choose from, and that is the main advantage of buying as a couple.

Just the two of you Couple plus children
Sizes that must exist in one print Two Three or more, across different size systems
What limits you first Men’s S, or 3XL and above The youngest child, then the largest adult
Fabric Your call, including satin Has to suit whoever is crawling or walking too
How long it gets worn More than one season is realistic, since adult sizes hold Adults for several seasons, children until they outgrow it

A full set makes more sense once there are several children to dress or a family photo is the point. Choosing for that situation is a different job, and best family Christmas pajamas sorts it by family structure.

A photo of two people in one print has its own problem: you share the same lightness, so standing shoulder to shoulder you can merge into one shape. Choose a background that contrasts with the print, stand a little apart or at different heights, and avoid putting satin directly under a lamp. The reasoning is in the three-color method.

Order now, and try both pieces on the day they arrive

It is already November, so order this week to keep the widest choice of prints. The usual October window for a card photo has passed; if a photo is still the plan, shoot it as soon as the set lands. For Christmas morning alone, the third week of November is the latest we would leave it.

Our shipping policy estimates 1–3 days of processing, longer in peak season, plus 2–5 business days within the contiguous US. Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico are estimated at 10–16 days. These are estimates, so leave yourself a margin.

The returns policy matters more for a couple than the delivery date does, for two reasons:

  • The policy offers no direct exchange. The policy’s fastest route is to return the item and make a separate purchase. By then, the size you need may have sold out, and one wrong size can break the pair. So try both pieces on the day they arrive, before washing and with the tags on.
  • Sale items cannot be returned. The policy says so plainly. If you are buying at a promotional price, be surer of the measurement, and if you are buying as a gift for another couple, ask for both chest sizes rather than guessing.

Otherwise, returns must be requested within 30 days of receipt by contacting service@patpat.com first, and items must be unworn, with tags and in original packaging.

Frequently asked questions

Does PatPat sell Christmas pajamas just for couples? No, there is no separate couples line for Christmas. Couples buy the adult pieces of a family set, adding one size at a time.

Do we have to buy children’s pieces to get the set? No. Each size is added separately, so two adult pieces are a complete order.

Why can’t I find a men’s S in the print we like? Men’s S is on only about one family set in five, far fewer than women’s S. Filter for it first, or compare the men’s M and the women’s pieces against his chest measurement.

Are a men’s M and a women’s M the same size? No. On our family matching chart, a men’s M is a 38.5–41 inch chest and a women’s M is 35.5–37.5 inches.

Which fabric is warmest for two people? Fleece is the warmest option in our family sets. Two people in one bed in a heated house may find it too much overnight, so choose for whichever of you sleeps hotter.

Can we add a child’s piece later? You can try, but stock is held size by size, so that size may be gone. If you know a child is joining, put every piece in one order.
